Discovering the World through the
Eyes of My Friends

ABSTRACT:
Not all of children have the opportunity to travel, visit and discover first-hand different parts of the world. Through this project the children can collaborate with students from other countries. They will make presentations of their countries, they will compare and contrast different holiday traditions, they will teach each other holiday greetings using ICT tools . The final product of the project will be a Padlet containing children's thoughts on what they learned and discovered during the project.
OBJECTIVES:

Collaborate with other students
using the Twinspace;

Develop critical thinking skills by analyzing,
comparing and contrasting different holiday traditions;

Build connections with peers from
other countries;

Enhance children's' knowledge about holiday traditions
in their country and in other countries using collaboration activities with their
peers from the partner school.

Develop communication skills in the native
language and English;

Create a joint learning journal
using Padlet

PROCESS

Project estimated time : 1 year
1.
The students and teachers will
introduce themselves using Twinspace. At this time they will discuss with the
students the objectives and the activities of the project, and they will make a
presentation of their country/city/school.
2.
In November each class will decide
upon a holiday tradition they will present for their partners.
3.
In December a on-line meeting will
be held. During this meeting each class will present their tradition. Together,
the students from the partner schools will compare and contrast their
traditions. They will complete a Venn Diagram for this with the help of their
teachers. They will use Padlet to record Christmas wishes for each other. They
will each help learn easy Christmas wishes in English and the native language
of the participants.
4.
For Easter there will be a activity
similar with the one in December, but the focus will be on Easter traditions.
5.
End of the school year activity - "This is What I saw through my friends'
eyes" - poster activity using Padlet.
